Austria Telecommunications Market
Reports
Austria Telecommunications - Broadband Market, Overview, Analysis and
Forecasts Report
The Austrian broadband market is dominated by the DSL sector,
which rapidly overtook cable as the preferred access method. UPC
Austria is the leading cable operator, while Telekom Austria,
partly through its reluctance to co-operate with local loop
unbundling, has a leading share of the DSL market. This report
provides data and analysis on the broadband market and public
data services in Austria, including technologies such as
xDSL, leased lines, cable modems, FttH, powerline broadband, WiFi
and Internet via satellite. The report profiles of some of the
key providers, and provides forecasts for broadband penetration
to 2018. Read the report summary.
Austria - Convergence - Triple Play and Digital TV
Report
Austria’s market for converged media benefits from
excellent broadband networks and a strong TV market. Cable and
DSL network upgrades support popular demand for triple play
offerings including IPTV and interactive TV. Digital services
have been available since 2006, with three multiplexes assigned
to national and regional services and a fourth reserved for
mobile broadcasting. This report profiles media convergence in
Austria in 2008, including developments in the broadband market,
broadband TV and triple play services. It also profiles
Austria’s broadcasting market, with analysis on the
Free-to-Air and digital TV sectors. See
the report summary here.
Austria - Key Statistics, Telecom Market &
Regulatory Overviews
Austria’s telecom market is dominated by the incumbent
Telekom Austria though there has been greater competitive
pressure in the fixed-line and mobile sectors in recent years,
while regulatory measure to encourage local loop unbundling have
improved competition in the broadband market. This report
introduces the key aspects of the Austrian telecom market in
2008, including statistical data on the country, the fixed
network services sector and telecom infrastructure. It presents
an overview of recent regulatory developments, including
broadband access and carrier preselection. The major fixed
network operators are also profiled, together with the most
recent performance data and an analysis on market
strategies. Further details here.
Austria - Mobile Market - Overview & Statistics
Report
Austria’s mobile market is fiercely contested by four
network operators and a growing number of MVNOs and resellers.
The competitive environment has led to relatively low ARPU for
operators and some of Europe’s lowest tariffs for
consumers. The four 3G networks have seen impressive growth in
subscriber take-up, largely at the expense of existing GSM
offerings. The incumbent’s mobile division, mobilkom, has
expanded to Eastern Europe to incorporate lucrative neighbouring
markets. Mobile Internet has shown extraordinary growth in recent
years though mobile TV, reaching 50% of the population by August
2008, has yet to make a mark on consumers. This report examines
Austria’s mobile market, providing historical and
current subscriber statistics, an overview of key operators, an
analysis of emerging technologies and data services, and
forecasts for ARPU and 3G subscriber growth. See
report summary here.
