Telecommunications Market Reports
Austria -
Broadband Market - Overview, Analysis & Forecasts
Report
The Austrian broadband market has expanded rapidly in recent
years, as consumers benefit from Internet access prices
significantly lower than the EU average. The main trend in 2006
will be the shift of connections from dial-up to broadband
technologies. This report provides data and analysis on the
broadband market and public data services in Austria in 2005 and
early 2006, including technologies such as xDSL, leased lines,
cable modems, FttH, powerline broadband, WiFi and Internet via
satellite. This Paul Budde report also profiles of some of the
key providers, and provides forecasts for broadband penetration
to 2015. See table of
contents and report summary.
Austria -
Convergence - Triple Play & Digital TV
Report
Austria has an advanced broadband and TV market, with a strong
cable network in place and increasing DSL speeds which will be
the foundation for the country’s take up of triple play
offerings. This Budde report profiles media convergence in
Austria in 2005 and early 2006, including developments in the
broadband market, broadband TV and triple play services. It also
profiles the country’s broadcasting sector, with research
on the FTA, and digital TV sectors. See the report
summary and table of content.
Austria - Key
Statistics, Telecom Market & Regulatory
Overviews
Austria’s telecom market has been progressively
liberalised since the early-1990s and is now completely open to
competition, though the incumbent has retained a significant
share of most markets. The report introduces the key aspects of
the Austrian telecom market in 2005 and early 2006. Key
statistical data is included on the country, the fixed network
services sector, the Internet and broadband, as well as the
mobile phone market. In addition, this Budde report provides an
overview the key regulatory issues, noting the status of
interconnection, local loop unbundling, number portability,
carrier preselection and the USO. Focussing on the fixed network,
the major operators are profiled, while the telecom
infrastructure is also summarised. Further
details.
Austria -
Mobile Market - Overview & Statistics
Report
Austria has one of the highest mobile penetration levels in
Europe and mobile growth has continued at about 9% during 2005.
The country has a fiercely competitive mobile market, and
although the population is only eight million it is served by
four GSM network operators and five UMTS licence holders. The
oversupply of capacity has lead to some of Europe’s lowest
tariffs. Advanced wireless data services have been launched,
including SMS, WAP, GPRS and 3G. The mobile operators have
expanded beyond the relatively small market, to include more
lucrative neighbouring markets such as Germany, Poland, the Czech
Republic, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia. This Paul Budde report
addresses these features of Austria’s wireless market in
2005 and early 2006, providing historical and current subscriber
statistics, and an overview of key operators, technologies and
data services. See table of
