Broadband Market - Overview, Analysis & Statistics
Report
Sweden has one of the most
developed Internet and broadband markets in the EU. Almost 6.7
million Swedes are regular users of the Internet, making the
country one of the most online nations in Europe. Sweden’s
Internet market is migrating rapidly from dial-up to various
modes of broadband access. Broadband penetration approached 15%
in early 2005, with high levels of DSL, cable modem, satellite,
and fixed wireless adoption. Metro Ethernet, fibre, WLAN and
powerline communication (BPL) access technologies are also
available. In the mobile field, 3G services are available from
four operators. See table of
contents and report summary.
Sweden
Convergence - Triple Play & Digital TV
Report
Sweden has one of
Europe’s highest broadband penetration levels, and has
invested heavily in DSL and fibre upgrades. There are two public
broadcast channels, SVT1 and SVT2, and one commercial channel TV4
that must be carried on all platforms. The largest cable TV
operators are Com hem, Kabelvision, and UPC Sweden. Transmissions
of digital terrestrial TV began in 1999, and more than 98% of
Swedes can access DTT. There are several commercial satellite
channels, including TV3, Channel 5, TV6, ZTV, and TV8. A range of
interactive TV services is available, from basic electronic
program guides to developing TV-commerce services. This report
provides an overview of Sweden’s digital convergence in
2005, including recent developments in Video-on-Demand (VoD),
triple play and VoIP services, together with an overview of the
Free-to-Air TV, pay TV and digital TV markets. See the report
summary and table of content.

Telecom Market - Key Statistics & Regulatory
Overviews
Sweden has a small but
mature telecom market. Mobile phone penetration is among the
highest in Europe, and broadband penetration is twice the EU
average. Regular Internet users are edging towards 70% of the
population. This report introduces the key aspects of the Swedish
telecom market in 2005, providing the latest data on fixed
network services, the Internet, and the broadband and mobile
phone sectors. Sweden is in the front rank of countries in many
advanced network technologies, including xDSL, fibre networks,
and GSM and UMTS mobile networks. In addition to these valuable
statistics, this report overviews the key regulatory issues,
including interconnection, local loop unbundling, number
portability and carrier preselection. The major fixed network
operators are also profiled. Further
details.
Sweden Mobile
Market - Overview & Statistics Report
Sweden has one of the
smaller and more advanced mobile markets in Europe. Growth and
penetration levels far exceed the EU average, largely driven by
prepaid cards which represent nearly half of all customers. The
single analogue network run by Telia is winding down, while four
GSM networks are licensed. Competition is strong, particularly
between Telia and Tele2, while MVNOs have a stable presence. 3G
services started in 2003, though take-up has been slow. This
report provides statistics and research on the Swedish mobile
market in 2005, including the key regulatory issues and the
growth of mobile data services such as SMS. See table of
