Asian Internet Market
Overview This market report provides a comprehensive overview of the
Internet segment across the various economies of Asia. There is considerable activity in
the Internet online markets in Asia, mainly by the big players of North Asia, (South
Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, etc), with a significant role also being played by some
of the South East Asian countries (Singapore, Malaysia, etc). Of course, in terms
of sheer Internet user numbers, China and India maintain a real presence, despite
their modest user penetration figures. China surpassed the US in 2008 to become the
largest nation of Internet users in the world. The report also includes a look
at the broadband segment within these markets. Read the complete Executive Summary.
Asian Mobile Telecommunications and Wireless Broadband
Market With more than 1.9 billion Asians using mobile phones in 2009, the
region's mobile markets offer huge potential for mobile data services. This market
report provides an overview of the Mobile Data and Wireless Broadband Market segment
across the various markets of Asia. Some 34 Asian countries are covered in the report.
Please note that the amount of information offered is obviously dependent on the relative
size of the market in each of the respective countries. More details in the Executive Summary.
Asian Telecommunications Infrastructure
Report Over a number of decades the economies of Asia have progressively
built substantial fixed-line national networks followed by national mobile networks. In
many of the developing nations of the region, the building of fixed-line infrastructure
was not far advanced before it was overwhelmed by the introduction of mobile infrastructure.
This has created the phenomenon of substitution in many of the markets of Asia (where
mobile services perform the function of the non-existent fixed services.) Fixed
infrastructure remains an important component in the overall development of the telecom
sector in Asia. By June 2009, Asia had infrastructure in place supporting a total of more
than 2.4 billion telephone subscribers; of these, around 570 million were fixed-line
subscribers, the remainder of course being mobile subscribers. Further details in the Executive Summary.
