Internet International Users to Surpass
the One Billion Milestone in
2005

Stats reports that approximately
957,783,672 people are using the
Internet globally as of
September, 2005. This figure
indicates that 14.9 % of the
world population - nearly 15 out
of every 100 persons - use the
web. The analysis by world
regions highlights the following
findings.
Asia is the region with the
largest number of Internet users,
327 million people. Of this
number, mainland China alone
represents nearly a third of the
users with 103 million people.
North America, featuring Canada
and the United States, is the
most penetrated world region,
with 68.1% of the population
using the Internet. Africa is the
world region that exhibits the
highest growth, 428% since year
2000.
