Internet Blog Basics
by Enrique de
Argaez, webmaster
Blogs are simply "web logs", written by
people that want to comment on special subjects of interest and
wish to post news, information and points of view in the
Internet, similar to a diary. Blogs have grown
in popularity enormously since their first appearance in the Web
in 2000. Blogs can be considered a disruptive technology that is
here to stay...
Blogging is part of the process that
started with the Internet and that is changing the global
communications. Blogging is a way for individuals to publish
material on the internet for everybody to read. You can do it
right here, right now. The most famous blog sites and one of the
first to appear is blogger. It offers a free, automated weblog publishing tool that
sends updates to a site via FTP. Being a free service for
creating blogs, Blogger is quite popular. Another free service
for creating blogs is blogSome, it is sponsored by World Press. Sign-up in any of the
blog service websites and start blogging for free.
Other paid blog creation and hosting services
available are: Movable Type, and etc. All these services today
are reliable and well tested
The tools for editing, organizing, and
publishing weblogs are variously referred to as "content
management systems" (CMS), "publishing platforms", "weblog
software", and simply "blogware". The latest headlines, with
hyperlinks and summaries, are frequently offered in weblogs in
the RSS or Atom XML format, to be read with a feed
reader.
The
Growth and Success of the Blog in Internet
The totality of weblogs or blog-related
websites is often called the blogosphere. When a large
amount of activity, information and opinion erupts around a
particular subject or controversy in the blogosphere, it is
sometimes called a blogstorm or blog swarm.
The number of blogs has grown enormously
and today add up to millions. Google has created a
special search engine just for blogs. This search engine
allows you to find blogs on your favorite subject. According to
blog search and measurement firm Technorati, 23,000 new
weblogs are created every day—or about one every three
seconds. Each blog adds to an inescapable trend fueled by the
Internet: the democratization of power and opinion. Blogs are
just the latest tool that makes it harder for corporations and
other institutions to control and dictate their message. A new
media is springing up, and the smart people are adapting.
The New Blog
Communities
The blog phenomenum has its own terms and
culture. For getting familiar with these very original and unique
terms, the following glossary is useful. to success is to follow the example of
successfull people. Apply the same methods as the high money
earners and you too will be successfull and start making money in
the Internet.
Good luck, and don't forget to drop me a
line about your blogging experiences.
