2010 Statistics Update

Dear Reader,
The 2010 stats are coming in a bit late this year. Sorry about that. In the following weeks we will be updating the Internet regional stats, and also the world Facebook stats.

The 2010 year-end stats are of particular interest because they represent ten years of Internet growth in the world. We set the year 2000 as a landmark for Internet usage. It is a way to give every world region and every country one same starting point, statistically speaking, and a fair way to compare yearly growth rates.

Below we include a preliminary table showing the Big Picture of Internet usage in the world. These figures will be adjusted in the coming weeks as fresh statistics come in from the field. The numbers confirm what everyone was expecting: there are more than two billion Internet users worldwide.

The table is very easy to understand, so I will not bore you with a long article with an analysis of the data. Each one of you can probably do a better job. So, without further ado, please enjoy this new IWS Newsletter issue.
