Telecommunications Market Reports
Denmark -
Broadband Market - Overview, Analysis & Forecasts
Report
Denmark’s excellent broadband infrastructure has helped to propel the
country to have one of the highest broadband penetration levels in Europe. All
platforms are available, though ADSL has a larger footprint than cable. A
notable development in 2005 and 2006 has been the migration of subscribers to
fast broadband plans. Fixed Wireless Access licences were issued at the end of
2000, and a number of WLAN hotspots were launched in 2002. Competition has
driven growth, and has helped drive down broadband prices, which remain
relatively high. This report profiles Denmark’s fixed and wireless
broadband markets in 2006, together with developments in related technologies
such as FttH, broadband powerline, and WiFi. See table of
contents and report summary.
Italy -
Convergence - Triple Play & Digital TV
Report
By early 2005 broadband growth in Italy was among the fastest in
Europe. There are extensive DSL and cable networks, and
increasing emphasis on greater access speed, which will be the
foundation for the country’s take up of triple play
offerings in 2006 and 2007. Fibre is also extensive in densely
populated cities, and has provided for some of Europe’s
most mature IPTV offerings. The Italian TV market is
characterised by a high number of Free-to-Air (FTA) TV channels,
mostly provided by RAI, the national public broadcaster, and
Mediaset, the private broadcaster. There are some 600 other
regional broadcasters with content available. Satellite TV is the
main pay TV platform, This report from Paul Budde analyses
Italy’s broadband infrastructure and triple play offerings
in 2005 and early 2006, and provides an overview of the
country’s FTA, digital terrestrial TV, cable and satellite
pay TV markets. See the report
summary and table of content.
Business
Language in Denmark:
Most large
companies have English as their official corporate language. This
means that printed information material for employees, clients,
partners and shareholders is written in English, sometimes
supplemented with a version in Danish or another of the company's
key languages.
In most
companies, the general principle governing internal day-to-day
communication is that each specific situation determines which
language should be used: English or Danish.
Emails are
often written in English from the beginning to make it possible
to involve colleagues or partners in other countries. In many
sectors, the professional terminology is in English anyway,
making English the natural choice for everyday written
communication.
