Armenia’s telecommunications sector is small but growing.
With over 700,000 fixed-line subscribers for a population of nearly
4 million people, the level of investment in infrastructure and new
services has begun to increase. There are, however, major structural
issues to be addressed in the sector. Although ArmenTel, the country’s
national telecom provider, was granted exclusive rights to the provision
of all telecommunications services in Armenia until 2013 (apart from
data services), a second mobile operator launched its network in mid-2005

August 7. /ARKA/. Macao has problems
with Internet access, the connection is unstable, access to Internet
is almost impossible, connection to foreign Websites is extremely difficult.
During recent three days two big damages have happened on fiber-optic
cable passing through the territory of Georgia. Arminco Global
Telecommunications, largest local provider company, informed that
on the territory of Georgia on August 5 at 02:00 o'clock (local time)
fiber-optic cable on the Sochi-Poti section was damaged. Internet
communication in Armenia was fully restored via a satellite.
