Sri Lanka Telecommunications and Broadband Reports

Sri Lanka Telecoms Market Overview and Statistics Report
Sri Lanka’s telecommunications sector has been struggling to develop in the difficult context of a nearly two-decade-long conflict between the government and separatist Tamil Tiger rebels. With the hope of an enduring peace and a general improvement in the country’s social and economic well-being, the telecom sector is well positioned for vigorous growth. As this report describes, there are a range of major initiatives in place that are set to boost the building of national infrastructure and open the market to more competition. Sri Lanka Telecom losing its monopoly on international calls has led the way as the market was opened up to competition.

Sri Lanka Mobile Communications and Broadcasting Report
The highly competitive mobile market in Sri Lanka has been running with a healthy overall annual growth rate of 50-60% for the last few years. With mobile penetration still relatively low (compared with some of the other Asian markets) approaching 40% in early 2008, the strong growth was continuing. The market has undoubtedly benefited from the liberalisation of the market and the competition that comes with having four operators seriously battling for market share.
